Epee Coach (Full-Time)

Epic Fencing Club is seeking a passionate and motivated Epee Coach to join our coaching team and help grow our epee program. Epic Fencing Club is one of Alberta’s leading fencing clubs, offering year-round programming for youth, adults, recreational fencers, and competitive athletes. The Opportunity
This is more than a position focused on teaching classes. The successful candidate will become an important member of our coaching team, working collaboratively with the Program Director and fellow coaches to support athlete development and strengthen our programs.
While this role has a primary focus on epee, the successful candidate will contribute to Epic’s broader mission: creating an outstanding experience for all athletes, from beginners discovering fencing for the first time to competitive fencers pursuing high-level goals.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging epee group classes for athletes of all ages and abilities.
- Provide individual lessons and technical instruction.
- Support athletes through their long-term development pathways.
- Coach athletes at provincial, national, and other competitions as appropriate.
- Help recruit, develop, and retain athletes within the epee program.
- Contribute to camps, clinics, outreach initiatives, and club events.
- Collaborate with the Epic coaching team to share ideas and continuously improve programming.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, safe, and respectful training environment.
Qualifications
We are looking for a coach who brings technical knowledge, coaching ability, and a passion for developing athletes.
Ideal candidates will have:
- A competitive background in epee.
- Experience coaching youth and/or adult athletes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the success of the entire club.
- A commitment to continuous learning and athlete-centered coaching.
We welcome applications from both experienced coaches and developing coaches who have demonstrated recent success and are ready to grow as professionals. NCCP certification, referee experience, and experience coaching competitive athletes are considered assets but are not required.
Compensation & Benefits
Epic Fencing Club offers a competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, coaches have opportunities to earn additional income through private lessons, receive a daily per diem while travelling to competitions, and benefit from professional development opportunities.
