What is a Donut Tournament?

Donut Tournaments are our in-house competitions designed to introduce fencers to competition in a comfortable environment. Other clubs are welcome to attend. Each fencers gets a Donut!

Donut Tournaments are for:

  • Fencers who haven’t competed yet

  • Youth fencers looking to gain more experience

  • Teen & Adult fencers looking to gain more competition experience in a team setting

Next Donut Tournament

  • May 3rd, 2025

  • Schedule:

    • Morning: Individual Youth Events (Y8, Y10, Y12)
    • Afternoon: Team events (All ages) – format TBD

  • Cost:

    • Free for Intro fencers
    • Individual Event fees: $20
      • 50% discount for Unlimited/Package members OR
      • Members counting the tournament towards their weekly classes
      • Collected at the door
    • Team Event fees: $5
      • Collected at the door

Value of Tournaments

At Epic Fencing, we believe in the value of competition for the lessons it teaches:

  • The correlation between hard work and tangible improvements

  • The importance of taking care of your body and mind

  • The value of discipline and self-regulation

Tournament Progression

  • Start with in-house tournaments such as Donut Tournaments

  • Progress to provincial tournaments

  • Move to out-of-province tournaments such as Sask or BC provincials, Canada Cups, and USA tournaments (Regional Youth Circuits or Regional Open Circuits)

  • Join USA tournaments; Regional Youth Circuit, Regional Open Circuit, Super Youth Circuit, or North American Cup

  • ​Compete internationally at European Cadet Circuits and Junior, Satellite, or Senior World Cups.
